Through looping, the ephemeral is captured. In this exhibition, Alexandria Masse depicts fleeting moments of feeling through repeated looped forms. Masse pushes the boundary of fibre arts, creating works that exist within both the frame of painting and the material construction of soft sculpture.

An integral part of her process is hand-dyeing Canadian wool, a practice that began after discovering a woollen mill in the Maritimes where the fibre is both grown and processed. For Masse, controlling colour is as important as controlling form, which led her to begin dyeing all of her own wool. Sometimes she dyes the yarn before crocheting or knitting; other times she dyes the finished piece. This approach allows her to produce only what she needs, while opening up new possibilities for experimentation and manipulation.

To loop is to return; using crochet and knit, this repetition becomes a physical, deliberate act. By returning to these fleeting emotions again and again, Masse makes the ephemeral tangible, allowing it to linger within the space.
